System Engineer with Focus on Software Deployment and Testing

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with expertise in software deployment and testing to join our project team working on secure identity and document solutions. This role combines hands-on system-level testing with robust DevOps skills, requiring an engineer who understands complex system deployment and operation while effectively validating entire system landscapes.

Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive system testing across infrastructure, deployment, and environment configuration. You will support deployment and configuration in AWS-based environments, prepare customer installations, create technical documentation, and conduct hardware testing. Additionally, you will oversee software development progress for specific projects.

Required qualifications include proven experience in system-level software testing (manual and structured), solid AWS environment experience, and excellent Linux knowledge including command line and shell scripting. Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash are essential, along with understanding of infrastructure, deployment processes, and environment configuration. Experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, API testing tools like Postman or SoapUI, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines is mandatory.

Preferred qualifications include experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Testing Library, or Cypress, solid SQL knowledge (PostgreSQL), ability to read and understand Java code, Windows administration experience, and background in secure identity or document management solutions.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong engineering mindset with ownership for development and system quality, can understand complex systems beyond frontend scope, demonstrates detail-oriented analytical and problem-solving skills, works independently across development, infrastructure, and deployment, and communicates clearly and collaboratively.

This is a full-time, long-term freelance position starting immediately. The role offers hybrid working arrangements with frequent visits to the Vienna office, requiring EU residency. The project language is English, with compensation based on experience and skill set.
