Ship Repair Supervisor - Steel Work and Shipfitting Operations

We are seeking an experienced Ship Repair Supervisor to lead steel work and shipfitting activities across multiple ship repair projects nationwide. This hands-on leadership role involves overseeing production efforts through internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring all work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The position operates within a well-established marine and offshore services organization supporting ship repair, modification, and engineering projects.

Key responsibilities include supervising daily steel work and shipfitting activities, leading teams of up to 20 personnel including subcontractors, and developing project schedules aligned with budgets and contract requirements. The role requires coordinating with internal departments to ensure material and equipment availability, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, and monitoring productivity to optimize workflow between trades. Additional duties involve identifying and documenting change orders, ensuring safety compliance, and liaising with clients and stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 5+ years of experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial environments with a strong background in steel work, structural repairs, and shipfitting activities. Proven experience supervising teams and coordinating subcontractors is essential, along with the ability to read ship drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Candidates should demonstrate solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and cost control principles, plus strong problem-solving skills for resolving technical and operational challenges.

Excellent communication skills are required for interacting with teams, clients, and management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary, along with willingness to travel extensively across the United States. The successful candidate must work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing project demands in complex shipyard environments.
