Lead Propulsion Engineer - Hybrid Rocket Systems

We are seeking a Lead Propulsion Engineer to join an innovative aerospace company developing next-generation hybrid propulsion systems for suborbital and orbital launch vehicles. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and testing of hybrid rocket engines and associated propulsion subsystems. This hands-on role combines advanced engineering analysis with practical build and test execution, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy both theoretical design work and getting their hands dirty in the field.

Key responsibilities include designing hybrid propulsion system components and fluid systems, performing thermal, stress, and vibration analyses, and conducting simulation and modeling using MATLAB, Simulink, and similar tools. You'll be responsible for materials selection for high-stress, high-temperature environments and will support the build and assembly of engines and test hardware.

The role involves conducting static and dynamic propulsion testing, writing comprehensive test plans, analyzing test data, and documenting results. You'll troubleshoot and resolve complex propulsion issues across mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in hybrid propulsion systems, with liquid propulsion experience considered as an alternative qualification. This position requires someone comfortable with hands-on engineering work, from concept development through hot fire testing, who can take ownership of projects and contribute to shaping future vehicle propulsion architectures.
