Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript / NestJS / Kafka) (m/f/d) For a growing technology company, we are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen an existing platform and product team. As part of the consolidation of multiple software products into a unified backend and cloud platform, additional senior-level support is required. The focus is on the integration of existing systems, the further development of a shared tech stack strategy, and the optimisation of scalability, performance, and technical stability. We are looking for a technically strong candidate with a clear focus on traditional backend engineering. Topics such as AI are a plus, but not the main priority. What matters most is solid experience in TypeScript, microservices, Kafka, data-intensive systems, and modern platform-oriented architecture. • Further develop and consolidate a unified backend platform across multiple software products • Support the integration of existing systems and the gradual replacement of legacy components • Develop and optimise microservices, data-processing components, and backend workflows • Work on topics such as scalability, performance, stability, and technical maintainability • Support the build-out of new platform-related product features and domain-specific data logic • Collaborate closely with the Hiring Manager, Architects, Product Management, and international engineering teams • Several years of experience as a Backend Engineer / Software Engineer with a strong focus on TypeScript • Strong knowledge of NestJS, Kafka, microservices, and containerised / Docker-based deployments • Experience with MongoDB and distributed, data-intensive system environments • Ideally, experience in IoT environments or with event-driven platforms • Knowledge of Python, Flink, or data-related processing is a plus • Independent, senior-level working style with strong ownership, technical depth, and a clear backend focus • Exposure to AI-related topics as an additional plus • Full-stack experience, provided the clear focus remains on the backend • Experience working in international, distributed teams • Background in scalability- and performance-critical platforms • Start: Ideally April 2026 • Location: Munich Germany or Utrecht Netherlands • Work model: Remote / Hybrid • On-site share: Occasional team meetings, approximately once per quarter • Team setup: Distributed team across Germany and the Netherlands • Project language: English (Mandatory), German or Dutch (advantageous) • Contract type: Primarily permanent
