The future of mobility is electric, connected, and user-centric. We are building the technology that makes charging seamless across Europe and Japan—and we are now looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the next phase of innovation. This is a rare opportunity to modernize a large-scale platform, architect a next-generation EMSPaaS offering (E-Mobility Service Provider as a Service), and transform a 60-person engineering organization into a high-performance, innovation-driven powerhouse.

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology & Operations Officer, you will play a defining role in shaping technical strategy, organizational design, and the engineering roadmap powering millions of charging experiences.

What You Will Lead and Deliver

- Build an engineering culture that embraces innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement

- Develop and mentor Senior Engineering Managers, enabling them to scale high-performing teams

- Lead platform modernization and architect the next-generation EMSPaaS offering

- Introduce modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and reliability-focused processes

- Improve developer experience, system quality, and delivery speed through smart engineering investments

- Partner with recruiting to attract and retain top engineering talent in competitive markets

- Align technology decisions with business goals across European and Japanese markets

- Maintain technical credibility through architecture reviews and involvement in complex problem-solving

- 10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering managers and organizations of 50+ engineers

- Strong background in FinTech and Cloud technologies (ideally Azure), with hands-on experience in distributed systems and microservices

- Proven ability to transform engineering culture and inspire excellence

- Able to balance long-term strategy with practical execution and rapid delivery

- Demonstrated success attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent

- Passion for modern engineering practices—AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, platform engineering, and continuous experimentation

- Empathetic, people-focused leader with high standards and a strong commitment to growth

- Comfortable working in international contexts across Europe and Asia

- Hands-on technical depth to support decisions across Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures

- Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments with a bias for action

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
